U6 and U7 Micro Fall Soccer Program

The goal of Micro Soccer is to introduce kids and their parents to soccer in a fun, safe environment. Micro soccer has weekly sessions that include a professionally led skills clinic followed by scrimmages. Micro soccer teams have up to 6 players who scrimmage 3v3 without goalkeepers. The approach we will be taking each week is to focus on coordination during warm up's and then progressing week to week through skill development including dribbling, ball control, individual/small group game understanding, passing, turning, and finally, shooting.

  • We group teams based on the schools they attend (when possible).
  • If you played U6, you will be with the same group in U7(when possible).
  • All players are of the same age/gender.
  • Professional coaches run the clinics.
  • Parent volunteers coach the games.

Season and Time Commitment

Micro soccer will occur only on Saturday mornings from 9-10:30AM, played within the Issaquah School District. The season begins on September 8th (after Labor Day) and runs for 8 weeks the the last session on Saturday, October 27th. Additionally, for U7 teams only, if a second day of practice is embraced by both parents and especially coach, the option to have the entire team (with the accompaniment of the coach) join the U8/U9 MOD clinic (exact day, time and location to be determined by summer). This is a pilot program and in the 2018 Fall season there will be no additional cost for this opportunity. Teams must sign up in advance if this option is desired so that we can ensure that we have proper field space and clinicians available.

Volunteer Coaches

Parent coaches don't have to have past soccer experience as the trainers will be showing the coaches what they need to do with their teams each week. Coaches need to have enthusiasm and a willingness to be at practice each session.

Field Location

The combo practice/game will take place at: TBA

Uniforms

As part of registration, Micro soccer players receive a full uniform kit including a jersey, shorts, socks and a #3 size ball!

What to Bring to Each Clinic

  • Each player needs to bring the size #3 soccer ball they will receive as part of their registration. It is important to label your soccer ball and water bottle so as not to get confused with other players.
  • Shoes. Cleats are preferable because they grip the wet grass and are good for lateral movement. Tennis shoes are fine however.
  • Shin guards: All kids MUST have shin guards to play in any practices or games.
  • Water bottle.
